What do I do

I hope I put an end to uncertainty as I guide you through the process of writing a will or enduring power of attorney, for example. I listen; I do a great deal of listening. Unless I know and understand what my clients’ fears and concerns are I cannot advise them of their options and I will only learn this information by listening.

Writing a will, changing a will, lasting power of attorney

I visit my clients, usually in their homes although I have been to hospices, care homes and hospitals. The advantage of meeting with a client in their home is that they are more likely to feel comfortable and relaxed. Because they know that my consultations are free they tend to open up, ask more questions and give me more information, all of which is incredibly important in order for me to be able to tell them what their options are. It also gives me an opportunity to learn more about my clients, perhaps a wheelchair in the hall or an elderly relative living with them.

She could have ended up homeless

I was with a couple some time ago. After talking for quite a while and learning, I thought, all about their situation, they decided that they wanted to go ahead and for me to take instruction. Half way through the process there was a clatter from the kitchen. I knew that their children were not living at home and asked ‘who is in the kitchen?’ It turned out to be the stepmother of the husband who lived in a granny annex. The stepmother was relatively young, the couple I was with were not in the best of health. If something happened to both of them and the stepmother out-lived them, she could have been homeless.

Taking the mystery and stress out of writing a will

Writing a Will is often seen as a very difficult process. Some feel that they need to commission a solicitor but are frightened at what the cost might be. Generally speaking, solicitors have hourly charges and also charge for time spent on telephone calls and the time taken writing letters on your behalf. There is not a situation too simple or one too complex for me. My fees are fixed and there are no hidden costs. My clients range from those with limited means to multi millionaires and everything in-between. Amongst other things I can, with the correct type of Will, mitigate and sometimes eliminate Inheritance Tax. I can protect a significant portion of the family home from being swallowed up by Long Term care fees, guardians for children can be arranged and even your pet cared for.

What I aim to do is put an end to uncertainty.
